By Erin Cary, MinneTESOL 2nd Vice President & 2017 MELEd Conference Co-Chair
The MinneTESOL board is already thinking ahead to the 2017 Minnesota English Learner Education (MELEd) conference; we truly enjoyed sharing ideas and practices with well over a thousand colleagues last October and look forward to learning more together at this year’s event! Mark your calendars for October 27-28, 2017 for keynotes, concurrent ABE sessions, interest section meetings and other opportunities to connect with colleagues across Minnesota’s English learner educator community. Our event will take place once again at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Bloomington, MN.
Call for Proposals
Our call for proposals for this year’s concurrent sessions will go out to the membership and appear on our website and Facebook page in early February. We’d love to receive proposals on a variety of ABE-related topics: What is inspiring your instruction these days? What are you learning from your students? What does standards implementation look like in your classroom or at your site? What issues related to our field are you and your colleagues discussing or taking action to address?
Interested in presenting but in need of some guidance as to your topic or how to shape your presentation? We facilitate MELEd mentorships, in which seasoned providers of professional development offer advice as needed to newer presenters. Please feel free to select this as an option when you submit your proposal and we’ll be in touch about matching you with a mentor!
Please consider volunteering to help out with the conference planning; we can always use help with proposal rating, program and app development, recruiting more volunteers and many other tasks along the way! Drop a line at the emails below to lend a hand with the planning.
