Summer Institute Updates - By Cathy Grady, Literacy Services Director

Sessions are set and registration is open for Summer Institute 2017: Empowered Teachers Empowering Learners. As we Minnesotans know all too well, summer flies by and August will be here before we know it. Summer Institute is August 16-18 at the St. Cloud River’s Edge Convention Center in St. Cloud, MN. Here are some things about the conference to get excited about:

-The full schedule of sessions is now on the Literacy Action Network website.

-If you are looking forward to hanging out with ABE colleagues outside of sessions, check out all the activities the Hospitality Committee has planned this year, including wood painting, yoga in the park and bingo. They even have their own website devoted entirely to conference activities.

-The Technology Committee needs “Tech Helpers.” You can earn a free t-shirt and help make your colleagues’ PowerPoints work by volunteering your skills as a Tech Helper (you don’t have to be a techie, either – a cheat sheet will be provided).

Details & registration

For all the news and to register for the conference, visit the Summer Institute page on the Literacy Action Network website. Register before July 21 to avoid a $25 late fee. Don’t forget to reserve your hotel room (information about hotels can also be found on the LAN website).

The Summer Institute Committee is looking forward to seeing you at this once-a-year ABE get-together!
