Summer is Here! ABE Summer Institute Coming Soon! - By Cathy Grady, Literacy Services Director

Now that summer is officially here (at least meteorologically), it’s time to get serious about the 2017 Summer Institute. Last week, we shared the session schedule and a little bit about the fun activities planned by the Hospitality Committee (yoga and wood painting for starters). This week, we bring you information about our keynote speaker, Dr. Lisa Dembouski.

Keynote Speaker

Dr. Dembouski is a professor of education at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN. Lisa describes her work this way: “I do teacher education and preparation, mentoring, advocacy for exceptionalities (particularly my own), writing (critical pedagogy, socially just education, and disability studies in education), and pedagogical excellence.” Check out her profile page on the Gustavus website for more information about her.

You can watch a TEDx talk by Dr. Dembouski about her experience living with “invisible differences.”
