ABE Summer Institute is Minnesota’s annual statewide Adult Basic Education conference. The Institute is co-sponsored by Literacy Action Network and the Minnesota Community Education Association. Held every August, the conference brings together more than 500 educators for three days to learn new teaching techniques, discuss policy changes, examine trends in ABE, and connect with peers from across the state.
Conference highlights include a new ABE staff orientation workshop (ABE Foundations) and an introduction to the College & Career Readiness Standards (CCRS Foundations) at the Pre-Conference on Tuesday, August 13; a keynote speaker on Wednesday, August 14; over 80 concurrent session topics led by experienced ABE professionals; and an awards banquet on Thursday evening. A vendor fair will be available Wednesday and Thursday. Thursday also features an update from Minnesota ABE Director Todd Wagner, a poster session, and regional meetings to gather input for the year’s professional development events. Friday morning will feature a documentary film and discussion.
