Pear Deck activities include multiple choice questions\, short written responses\, drag and drop\, select an area\, and more. Pear Deck can be used in teacher-mode for a whole-class activity\, or it can be used in student-mode for group or individual work. We will apply this knowledge into programmatic and instructional practices that create a healing-centered environment for teachers and learners alike. Presented by Lucy Rosario and Andrea Echelberger. \nSession 1 (Friday\, May 13) will focus on the neuroscience of stress and trauma and how it impacts your brain\, body\, and learning. It will also delve into teacher well-being with brain-based strategies for preventing compassion fatigue and improving attunement in order to increase instructional effectiveness with trauma-impacted learners. \nSession 2 (Friday\, May 20) will focus on programmatic structure and instructional practices to create a healing centered environment that will create an inclusive and positive learning experience and improve learner outcomes. \n \nLucille Rosario\, MSW\, LICSW\, has over 15 years of experience in leadership and direct practice in the social work field. Lucille received her Bachelors in Social Work from St. Olaf College and her Masters of Social Work from Columbia University in New York City. Lucille has previously run programs addressing youth development\, healthy relationships\, family violence\, parenting\, trauma\, mental illness\, and nutrition in Mexico\, South Bronx\, Minnesota. Lucille is currently a School Social Worker at a high school special education program in Brooklyn Park where she is part of their trauma leadership team\, Equity Committee and has participated in the year of learning with Resmaa Menakem\, along with a number of other district-wide projects focused on equity and trauma-informed teaching in schools. Lucille is also a community faculty member at the University of Minnesota School of Social Work\, and volunteers her time supporting refugees and helping professionals at the United States/Mexico border.

SUMMARY:Beyond “Etiquette” & Towards Equity: Radical Disability Inclusion
DESCRIPTION:Registration Deadline: TUE. 6/7/22 \n2020 changed us\, no doubt. But\, what many marginalized people — including people with disabilities — are doubtful of\, is whether or not reckonings about access and inclusion are here to stay. Even though some organizations are beginning to ask long-overdue questions of accessibility that start to move beyond ramps and elevators\, still in 2021\, even equity-minded organizations continue to lag behind in disability inclusion. \nPeople with disabilities make up one of the most inherently intersectional identity groups\, but non-disabled people still primarily frame conversations about disability as “etiquette\,” instead of “equity.” Now is our time to prove we are willing to do what it takes to focus our imagination on shifting power. Join us to move beyond basic terminology and etiquette by centering an equity and disability rights lens to address real and systemic gaps in access for people with disabilities in workplaces and communities more broadly.
