DESCRIPTION:Registration Deadline: FRI. 10/9/26 \nJoin us for a day of purposeful PD grounded in effective math instructional practices.  \nGuest Speaker: Heidi Schuler from TERC\, and our CALM facilitator.\n\nHeidi Schuler has worked in adult education since 2006\, spending much of that time expanding her understanding of tools and instructional strategies that make math meaningful\, accessible\, and fun for adult learners. Her participation in numerous professional development offerings and pilot studies and her active involvement on the Board of Directors of the Adult Numeracy Network (ANN) allowed her to learn from some of the best and brightest minds in adult ed math and numeracy. Through those experiences\, she became a LINCS national trainer for math and numeracy and joined the SABES numeracy team as a curriculum developer and facilitator. At SABES\, she worked alongside her mentor Donna Curry to develop the Curriculum for Accelerated Math (CAM) and was the lead developer of Curriculum for Adults Learning Math (CALM). In 2021\, Heidi succeeded Donna as the Director of the Adult Numeracy Center at TERC\, where she manages the SABES Mathematics and Adult Numeracy Curriculum & Instruction PD Team\, oversees updates\, research\, and teacher support for the EMPower math series\, and continues to facilitate professional development such as the Adults Reaching Algebra Readiness (AR)2 institutes. \nMore information about the day forthcoming! \n  \n  \nNOTE! After consulting with ATLAS for several years\, Lindsey joined the ATLAS staff as Numeracy & Program Support Coordinator in 2021. An alumna of ATLAS’s 2013 MNI (Minnesota Numeracy Initiative) cohort\, she has since provided leadership for ATLAS in various contexts. She coordinates professional development activities around effective math and numeracy instruction to adults\, including coordination of the annual Math Institute and leading the statewide Be/CALM Initiative; content standards implementation; a statewide mentorship experience for new staff members; and supporting program administrators. \nFun fact: Lindsey is currently pursuing a Masters of Management and Leadership (MML) at Hamline University.

Join the Zoom on Monday\, February 22\, between 2:00 and 3:00 pm. This office hour is dedicated to those who are users of CALM (Curriculum for Adults Learning Math)\, and Lindsey will be sipping coffee\, awaiting a conversation with you! Come to informally connect\, collaborate and create solutions with Lindsey and other colleagues who are implementing CALM with their students. (Learn more about Lindsey Pust and her experience below.) \nWhat is Ask ATLAS in the ATLAS Lounge?\nASK ATLAS is an “office hour\,” simply time for an informal\, drop-in conversation with an ATLAS staff member. Each of us at ATLAS holds interests and expertise in different areas\, and we are eager to talk about teaching and learning with you. Come to connect with others doing similar work and chat with ATLAS folks! Bring your questions\, new resources\, & frustrations. We’re eager to hear more about your classroom and program. \n[Note: CEUs not available for these informal\, drop-in events] \nLindsey Pust entered into the world of adult education through an AmeriCorps VISTA position\, and then worked 10 years as a pre-GED/GED instructor. After consulting with ATLAS for several years\, Lindsey joined the ATLAS staff as Numeracy & Program Support Coordinator in 2021. An alumna of ATLAS’s 2013 MNI (Minnesota Numeracy Initiative) cohort\, she has since provided leadership for ATLAS in various contexts. She coordinates professional development activities around effective math and numeracy instruction to adults\, including coordination of the annual Math Institute and leading the statewide Be/CALM Initiative; content standards implementation; a statewide mentorship experience for new staff members; and supporting program administrators. \nFun fact: Lindsey is currently pursuing a Masters of Management and Leadership (MML) at Hamline University.
