She is a Senior Policy Fellow at Minnesota Education Equity Partnership\, leading the TeachMN20/20 collective impact initiative to advance systems change to create and retain a racially diverse teacher workforce. SUMMARY:Using ACES/TIF to Develop Workplace Preparation Activities
DESCRIPTION:Registration Deadline: WED. 4/21/21 \nIn this webinar we will look at the connection between ACES/TIF and the Workplace Preparation requirement that is a component of both Integrated Education and Training (IET) and Integrated English Literacy and Civics Education (IELCE) instruction. We will hear from a panel of teachers who have experience planning workforce preparation activities\, and we will explicitly identify how the activities support the development of ACES/TIF skills. Webinar participants will leave with a better understanding of this requirement and how to create engaging lessons that go beyond writing a resume or doing mock interviews. SUMMARY:CCRS Support Webinar: They've Got This – Fostering Independent Learners
DESCRIPTION:Registration Deadline: THU 1/14/21 \nWe all know that whoever is doing the talking is doing the learning. The idea of creating space for learners to be active contributors in the classroom is widely accepted as best practice. However\, practically and powerfully putting this into action can be challenging. How do we facilitate students finding their own way out of learning roadblocks besides just telling them? How do we bring out skills that students already possess and help them apply those skills in an academic context? How do we cultivate a learning culture that is less dependent on the teacher disseminating knowledge and more dependent on learner contributions? In order to develop mastery of CCR standards\, it is crucial for learners to develop practical skills and strategies for becoming independent learners. In this session\, hear from several teachers about how they are integrating ACES/TIF skills and CCRS – for both in-person and remote learning environments – to establish a culture of empowered learning in their classrooms. \nIf you require ASL Interpretation\, please contact Gail Rutan at grutan01@hamline.edu \n  \n

SUMMARY:Speaking the Language of ACES: Helping Your Students Talk about Their Transferable Skills
DESCRIPTION:Registration Deadline: MON. 1/11/21  \nThe COVID-19 pandemic has left scores of people unemployed. With many businesses shutting down due to mandatory closures and a slow economy\, too many workers are facing the prospect of looking for a new job. Do your students know how to talk about their skills? Do you give them opportunities to discuss their strengths and language for explaining their weaknesses to a potential employer? Helping our students recognize and name their transferable skills is one of the most important things that we can do to help give them a competitive edge in the job market. \nJoin us for the ACES Winter Webinar for a chance to explore how to help students develop the language they need for talking about their skills. We will be joined by a senior employment counselor from DEED who will talk about the Transferable Skills Matrix; Alison Wilcox\, Career Pathways Coordinator for Metro South ABE; and Career Navigator Stephanie Beja. We will look at some classroom resources and share ideas for fostering student confidence and success. \nIf you require ASL Interpretation\, please contact Gail Rutan at grutan01@hamline.edu \n
