DESCRIPTION:Registration Deadline: FRI. 10/16/26 \nVenue: Online (see details below) \n\n\nThe purpose of this professional development (PD) initiative is to build the capacity of MN ABE consortia to offer quality digital education programming and distance learning opportunities for their learners based on established best practices. Participants who are accepted\, fully participate\, and complete the course requirements will receive a stipend of $250 from Literacy MN (LM) and 20 CEUs.  \n\nFormerly known as Distance Learning 101/102\, this professional development cohort opportunity will support ABE teachers\, staff\, and administrators in setting learners up for success in asynchronous distance learning and synchronous online class formats (fully online\, blended\, HyFlex\, etc.). We’ll focus on discussion of new readings & resources and best practices in digital education\, digital equity\, digital resilience\, learner orientation\, ongoing digital navigation/tech support\, and instruction & assessment.\n\nThe online kickoff will be held Friday\, October\, 30th – 9:00-11:30am and the cohort experience will conclude in late February or early March 2026. Three support and sharing webinars will be scheduled as a group during the online kickoff. Participants will work together in a supportive cohort of peers from around the state to address critical issues in digital education and improve their program and/or personal instructional practices.\n\nThis cohort will be facilitated by Adam Kieffer (St. Paul ABE/Hubbs Center) and Susan Wetenkamp-Brandt (Literacy MN). This PD initiative is supported by the Digital Learning Team Supplemental Services grant through LM. Any questions regarding the eligibility requirements or application and review process should be sent to Susan Wetenkamp-Brandt at swbrandt@literacymn.org or 651-251-9090.\nCohort Eligibility Requirements:\n1) You work or volunteer for an adult education program in Minnesota.\n2) You are involved in online (synchronous or asynchronous) instruction of adult learners or you otherwise support their learning (for example\, through intake\, orientation\, or tech support). Teachers\, support staff\, and managers/admin are welcome to participate\, but the focus will be more on instructional practices for online learning.\n\n\n3) You can commit to full participation and completion of coursework\, which includes: weekly online discussion\, assigned readings\, completing and submitting 3 assignments\, and participating in four webinars (kickoff\, two check-ins\, and final presentation/sharing). The work associated with this cohort is approximately 20+ hours (and CEUs) over several months. The majority of the reading and discussion will be in November\, December\, and January.
