DESCRIPTION:Registration Deadline: WED. 6/18/25 \nVenue: Online (see details below) \nOnce we understand the effects of trauma and chronic stress\, we can respond with effective\, supportive strategies. In this section\, participants will learn trauma-informed teaching practices designed to create safe\, welcoming environments from the moment adult learners walk in the door. These practices can help reduce barriers to learning\, support positive classroom behaviors\, and improve learner engagement and comfort. \nThis is Part 2 of a two-part series entitled Creating Healing-Centered Spaces for Adult Learners. Taking both sessions is not required\, nor is it essential to take Part 1 before taking Part 2. \nhttps://www.literacymn.org/strategies-for-trauma-informed-teaching-part-2-presented-by-andrea-echelberger-webinar-advanced

SUMMARY:MobyMax Site Administrator Training
DESCRIPTION:Registration Deadline: WED. 6/18/25 \nVenue: Online (see details below) \nPlease attend this training to learn how to assign (and re-assign) learner seats on this state-supported distance learning platform. After July 7\, each learner at your site/program will need to have a seat (license) assigned to them in order to access MobyMax content and earn distance learning proxy hours. When a learner leaves your program or stops using MobyMax\, you can re-assign their seat to a new learner. \nThis training is REQUIRED for designated MobyMax administrators (1 or 2 staff members per site). These individuals received an email from the DL Team on May 29. Any staff member or volunteer is welcome to attend this training to learn more\, but only designated MobyMax administrators will have the ability to assign MobyMax seats to learners. \nThe training will be recorded for staff who are unable to attend on June 18. Designated MobyMax administrators who do not attend the full training on June 18 will be required to view the recording and pass a quiz before being able to assign seats. \nPlease contact support@mnabedistancelearning.zendesk.com with questions and to request ASL interpretation or other accommodations. \nAfter registering\, you’ll receive an email from “MNABE Staff” with a link to join the Zoom meeting.

SUMMARY:Understanding the Impact of Trauma and Chronic Stress\, Part 1\, Presented by Andrea Echelberger
DESCRIPTION:Registration Deadline: WED. 6/11/25 \nVenue: Online (see details below) \nTrauma and chronic stress can take many forms and affect how people learn\, process information\, and engage with others. SUMMARY:Leveraging Students' Collectivist Mindset as a Classroom Asset Presented by Cydnee Sanders and Erin Cary
DESCRIPTION:Registration Deadline: MON. 4/28/25 \nWhen teaching adult learners from many different cultures\, it’s important to understand that our cultures shape the way we process new knowledge and approach learning and problem solving. One example of this is if learners come from more collectivist or individualist cultures. Have you ever noticed some students immediately start working together on an activity\, even when you’ve said to do it alone? Don’t worry\, this isn’t cheating\, these students might be from a culture that deeply values working on tasks collaboratively. Since our education system is primarily set up for more individual learning\, this session will provide several concrete strategies for collaborative learning so that you can tap into all learners’ cultural strengths and joy!

Register for the series\, and you can join on the days that work for you.\nNO prior knowledge or AI expertise is necessary! We’ll help you get started with a free AI tool if needed. Just bring yourself (and a sense of humor).\nA portion of each session will be recorded.\nTo request ASL interpretation or other accommodations\, contact support@mnabedistancelearning.zendesk.com\nThis will be fun!
