IET for English Learners Desk Aids

A set of three IET for English Learners Desk Aids and companion QuickStart Guide was developed in 2023 by the Enhancing Access for Refugees and New Americans project, funded by the U.S. Department of Education Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education (OCTAE). These resources are five to six pages each, and complement the IET Design Toolkit approach and process by describing nuanced considerations for IET programs designed for delivery in combination with IELCE activities.

Integrated Education & Training Design Toolkit

The Integrated Education and Training (IET) Toolkit was developed to assist state and local adult education staff to plan, design, implement, and evaluate effective IET programs that are responsive to state and local labor market demands and fulfill the requirements of WIOA. The IET Design Toolkit guides users through a team-based approach to developing customized IET solutions that address the needs of adult learners and local businesses through four iterative phases: Research and Assess, Design and Plan, Develop and Implement, and Evaluate and Improve.

Fit 4 Healthcare / Foundational Skills in Healthcare

A foundational training designed to inform participants about the healthcare sector.  A job fair with healthcare providers is held as a culminating event. Mechanical Components / Mechanical Maintenance Foundations

The Integrated Education and Training (IET) course is designed to fulfill requirements of the Electrical and Instrumentation Technician Curriculum of PMMI Certification, The Association of Packaging and Processing Technologies. This Employer Engagement Toolkit contains flyers designed to assist Adult Education programs connect with local employers regarding workplace education programs or more generalized collaboration strategies. All flyers describe the short and long term return on investment (ROI) that is possible through collaborations with ABE. Customize each flyer with your ABE program’s contact information, logo, and preferred wording. A free Canva account is required to copy and edit the view-only files. New to Canva? A brief tutorial is included.

The Literacy Centre of Expertise

This is a collection of customized materials, practical tools, and effective research-based strategies for teaching adult English as a New Lanugage (EAL) learners. The resources are created to strengthen language skills, address literacy barriers, and boost learner confidence. Materials are geared towards helping students develop the essential skills needed for daily life and active participation in their communities. There is a curated list of useful websites and teacher training. Additionally, view internally developed content such as Adults Learn to Print. Developed by The Immigrant Education Society (TIES) in Canada.
