Academic Word Finder

The Academic Word Finder is a free electronic tool from Achieve the Core that quickly identifies academic words in copied and pasted texts. It is not intended to "replace teacher judgment; rather, it helps to support the teacher and identify the most useful academic words."

Achieve the Core – ELA Standards

The site describes itself as "full of free content designed to help educators understand and implement the Common Core and other college and career ready standards." Resources include CCRS-aligned lessons, activities, assessments and more, but also materials to support educators in understanding the standards and the content.

CCRS Math Standards

Math Snacks: Counting

Online activities and videos for supporting students' understanding of math concepts such as ratios, scale factors, fractions, number lines, and so on. Some activities may need additional language learning supports (i.e. for beginning English learners). Videos are also available in Spanish and in a printable "comic book" form.

Fraction Misconceptions – from Recovering Traditionalist blog

How does the language that teachers use to describe fractions affect students' understanding of fractions? In addition to exploring this question, the writer suggests some strategies for building number sense around fractions, as well as making sense of a Common Core/CCRS standard about fractions.

Desmos: Graphing
