DESCRIPTION:Registration Deadline: FRI. 10/9/26 \nJoin us for a day of purposeful PD grounded in effective math instructional practices.  \nGuest Speaker: Heidi Schuler from TERC\, and our CALM facilitator.\nHeidi Schuler has worked in adult education since 2006\, spending much of that time expanding her understanding of tools and instructional strategies that make math meaningful\, accessible\, and fun for adult learners. Her participation in numerous professional development offerings and pilot studies and her active involvement on the Board of Directors of the Adult Numeracy Network (ANN) allowed her to learn from some of the best and brightest minds in adult ed math and numeracy. Through those experiences\, she became a LINCS national trainer for math and numeracy and joined the SABES numeracy team as a curriculum developer and facilitator. At SABES\, she worked alongside her mentor Donna Curry to develop the Curriculum for Accelerated Math (CAM) and was the lead developer of Curriculum for Adults Learning Math (CALM). In 2021\, Heidi succeeded Donna as the Director of the Adult Numeracy Center at TERC\, where she manages the SABES Mathematics and Adult Numeracy Curriculum & Instruction PD Team\, oversees updates\, research\, and teacher support for the EMPower math series\, and continues to facilitate professional development such as the Adults Reaching Algebra Readiness (AR)2 institutes. \nMore information about the day forthcoming! \nNOTE! DESCRIPTION:Registration Deadline: THU. 4/15/27 \nVenue: Online (see details below) \n\nPurpose: To strengthen partnerships between Adult Education and two-year colleges so underprepared adult learners experience seamless transitions\, comprehensive support\, and greater success in postsecondary education.  \nThe Affinity Group meetings bring together ABE educators\, college faculty\, deans\, and administrators. Through collaborative discussions\, participants explore effective partnership strategies that support student success and strengthen local connections between Adult Basic Education and MinnState.  \nJoin us for three Affinity Group meetings throughout the year- one each in the fall\, winter\, and spring. To provide flexibility\, each meeting is offered twice: Thursday at 2:00 pm and Friday at 10:00 am. Register for the session that works best for you.
