Speaking the Language of ACES: Helping Your Students Talk about Their Transferable Skills
January 11, 2021 @ 3:00 pm - 4:15 pm CST FreeRegistration Deadline: MON. 1/11/21
The COVID-19 pandemic has left scores of people unemployed. With many businesses shutting down due to mandatory closures and a slow economy, too many workers are facing the prospect of looking for a new job. Do your students know how to talk about their skills? Do you give them opportunities to discuss their strengths and language for explaining their weaknesses to a potential employer? Helping our students recognize and name their transferable skills is one of the most important things that we can do to help give them a competitive edge in the job market.
Join us for the ACES Winter Webinar for a chance to explore how to help students develop the language they need for talking about their skills. We will be joined by a senior employment counselor from DEED who will talk about the Transferable Skills Matrix; Alison Wilcox, Career Pathways Coordinator for Metro South ABE; and Career Navigator Stephanie Beja. We will look at some classroom resources and share ideas for fostering student confidence and success.
