Mentorship Experience Purpose
The Statewide Mentorship Experience is an ATLAS initiative designed to support Minnesota ABE professionals through a facilitated, relevant, meaningful, and effective mentorship experience between mentors and mentees. Mentors and mentees may be managers, coordinators, support staff or instructors who are looking to intentionally support and learn from peers in MN ABE programs.
The Statewide Mentorship Experience takes place over a 12-week period and is facilitated by ATLAS content-leads: Lindsey Pust, Kristine Kelly and Carly Voshell.
What is a mentor?
A mentor is NOT someone who has all of the answers! Rather, a mentor is an experienced professional who is a purposeful match (complimentary role, context, content area, experiences, thinking partner, etc.) to a mentee’s goals; a colleague who nurtures professional growth in a mentee by sharing their knowledge and insights and supporting the mentee in their professional learning and growth.
What is a mentee?
A mentee is a professional who is interested in professional growth and development in their role from a colleague in a similar role.
The mentor/mentee relationship is a positive, dynamic reciprocal relationship grounded in the value of continued professional growth.
What would make sense to focus on? How will I see tangible results?

Benefits include:
For you: This is an opportunity to further develop your personal leadership skills.
For everyone: When MN Adult Education teachers, managers, and support staff are well prepared for their work, everyone benefits! Research shows that adult students persist when they feel like they are in good hands and are making progress. Through this initiative, new adult educators (from front desk staff to instructors to newly minted managers) are equipped with a go-to partner, someone who can act as a resource, a sounding board, a cheerleader, and an ally as they navigate their work.
If eligible: Mentors and mentees each receive CEUs and a stipend through ATLAS. NOTE: Those with an Administrative license from PELSB can receive Administrative CEUs by request.
