Teaching Reading to Adults Mini-Cohort–Accepting Applications until September 11, 2026!!
The Teaching Reading to Adults mini-cohort focuses on what evidence-based reading instruction (EBRI) is, how to assess adult learners in each of the 4 essential components of reading, and strategies for teaching EBRI. This professional development activity takes place over 16 weeks and involves completing a self-paced, online course via Canvas and attending live webinars for a robust learning experience for participants.
Structure:
- 2 co-facilitators
- September through December asynchronous coursework
- 4 synchronous webinars over 16 weeks
- 24 CEUs and $200 stipend for completion
The Outcomes
Upon completion of this mini-cohort, you will be able to:
- identify the four essential components of evidence-based reading and articulate their interrelationships
- identify diagnostic assessment tasks for each of the four essential components of reading and use results to select materials and inform instruction.
- select-level-appropriate approaches and activities for teaching the essential components to adult learners.
- be a more skillful and reflective instructor of evidence-based reading
