Dev Ed/ABE Toolkit: Preface – continued
Who is this Toolkit For?
This toolkit has been developed specifically for practitioners within the Minnesota State system and Minnesota Adult Basic Education (ABE). However, the practices and information contained in this Toolkit should assist anyone regardless of their campus or Adult Education program location. Feel free to use the toolkit in whatever way works best for your environment.
Examples of roles for which this Toolkit would be especially useful include ABE Educators, Campus Faculty, College Deans and Administrators, ABE Program Leaders, Regional Directors, and anyone with Developmental Education reporting responsibility or who is charged with measuring outcomes.
What is in this Toolkit
The full Toolkit document (link provided on this web site) contains four chapters and a Glossary, as follows:
- Chapter 1: Context and Introduction to the Dev Ed/ABE Model
- Chapter 2: Creating a Dev Ed/ABE Partnership
- Chapter 3: Types of Partnership Models/Levels of Collaboration
- Chapter 4: Success Stories from the Field
- Glossary of Terms
The content found in these web pages contain an abbreviated version of each chapter, streamlining the content into digestible chunks, yet providing the opportunity to always view or download the full version.
Much of the content has been authored by subject matter experts (those already in partnerships throughout Minnesota) and will reflect the voice of both campus faculty and/or administrators, and ABE instructors and/or ABE program managers.
How to Use the Toolkit
If your campus dev ed program or ABE office is interested in forming a partnership, you will want to gather interested parties and have everyone work through the Toolkit together. You can choose to work through one chapter at a time or read it in its entirety. Either way, you can return at any time to your chapter of choice.
Acknowledgements
Special thanks are extended to the MDE-ABE’s Northwest and Northeast Transitions Regions who provided the funding for Toolkit development, the Minnesota State Dev Ed/ABE Affinity Group who provided guidance on the structure of and content to be included in this Toolkit, and to the many campus practitioners (faculty and administrators) and ABE instructors and administrators who contributed their expertise and partnership experience in the authoring of sections within this Toolkit.
