Google My Maps: Make Educational Maps with AI
Are you always trying to look for that perfect map to supplement your classroom lesson or discussion on a particular topic? If so, and you don’t want to spend time creating it yourself, make sure to check out Control Alt Achieve. This website, from Eric Curts, highlights educational technology resources, especially those related to Google platforms and AI.
Along with links to resources, blog posts, and video tutorials on a variety of topics, there is a dedicated section on making educational maps with AI. This section discusses a free tool called Google My Maps, which allows users to create custom maps on any topic. There is a short video tutorial and detailed instructions to help with the map making process.
Many potential map topics are suggested, and the site clearly outlines and provides examples on how to use AI to generate the map data file, import it into Google My Maps, and, ultimately, how to create, edit, and share the map. Whether you need a map that shows historical landmarks, where famous authors were born, or where major cultural festivals take place around the world, this tool will produce that detailed visual to share with your students.
