Picture Yourself as a Stereotypical Male
How do race, gender, exposure to stereotypes, and classroom demographics impact student performance? What does student understanding of the purpose of a test have to do with student performance on the assessment? Can helping students see themselves as “complex, intelligent, talented, individual human selves” actually impact their academic performance? Can it improve performance to acknowledge that test anxiety can be a result of the experience of bias, and unrelated to actual ability?
