Geometric Subitizing: A Different Kind of Number Talk
Subitizing is a term for what we are doing when we can see a certain number of items or shapes “at a glance.” The discussion cards posted on this site can be used to discuss counting and grouping strategies with students. This could be a great way to engage students using vocabulary around numbers and shapes.
While the videos on this blog (from from Graham Fletcher [Gfletchy]) are with young students, and so as ABE teachers we might change the tone, the activities demonstrated can be used with adults.
