Using The Change Agent in Math Class
The SABES Math & Numeracy Team in Massachusetts started this online collection of math lessons and activities with connections to student articles from The Change Agent, a social justice journal written by and for adult education students and teachers.
Two recommended lessons to get teachers started are:
- Is It in Proportion? – which deals with recognizing disproportionality in the races and genders of front line workers in New York City during the pandemic
- Math in Text: Hortensia’s Story – which uses a student’s immigration story to explore math in text, in the context of climate change and climate migration
