Join an Advisory Team and Help Guide Professional Development in MN Adult Ed!

Do you like thinking about how we grow as professional educators in ABE? Interested in helping design workshops, study circles, job-embedded cohort experiences, conferences, and other professional development (PD) events? Four statewide leadership opportunities are coming up for Minnesota Adult Education practitioners. Your unique expertise and interests may be just what we need!

Applications for each of the teams listed below are due by Friday, June 5, 2026Team and area(s) of focus include:

  • ATLAS Administrator PD Advisory Team (1-year term, 4 virtual meetings) – The Administrator Professional Development (PD) Advisory Team is an ATLAS-sponsored team designed to support professional development for MN Adult Education program administrators. Administrators may be managers, coordinators, or work in other leadership roles in MN Adult Ed programs. This team will provide input, guidance, and expertise to help strengthen administrator knowledge, skills, and dispositions for MN Adult Ed programming. (Contact: Carly Voshell, [email protected])
  • ATLAS MN Numeracy Instruction Advisory Team (2-year term, 5 meetings, 2 in person, in FY27) – The Minnesota Numeracy Instruction Advisory Team (MNI A-Team) is an ATLAS-sponsored team designed to strengthen math and numeracy teaching and learning in Minnesota Adult Education through professional development (PD) for practitioners. The A-Team is responsible for planning and strengthening numeracy PD in Minnesota, as well as specific tasks yearly to support established PD efforts, such as the annual ABE Math Institute, regional workshops, etc. (Contact: Lindsey Pust, [email protected])
  • Statewide PD Committee (2-year term, meets quarterly) – By sharing expertise and collective wisdom, the MN statewide adult education professional development (PD) committee will collaborate to: 1) identify key present and future PD needs, 2) develop PD plans and resources, 3) identify & implement best practices in PD, and 4) coordinate & align PD activities for an efficient and effective PD system.   • PANDA Disability Working Group: NOW FULL FOR FY27 (2-year term, 4 virtual meetings in FY27) – PANDA’s mission is to provide Minnesota ABE programs with disability support, knowledge, and resources to increase academic opportunities for all students. The focus of this group is to educate, advocate, advise, and communicate topics related to students with disabilities as a group and with ABE staff throughout each program/region. Program representatives play a critical role in bringing local and regional PD needs to the committee and sharing PD information and resources with practitioners in their regions! They must be currently or recently employed with a Minnesota Adult Ed program and have experience with Adult Ed instruction or administration. Experience planning, delivering, or participating in local, regional, or statewide professional development is a plus. Representatives receive a stipend in recognition of their work on the committee and gain valuable experience collaborating with a diverse group of MN Adult Ed professionals on meaningful PD work that benefits Adult Ed practitioners and programs.

Details about stipends, expectations, and meeting dates can be found within each application. Many of the meetings are held virtually! Some teams have kickoff meetings in person, and the sponsoring organization will reimburse any travel expenses for those coming from a distance.

Applications for each of the teams are due by Friday, June 5, 2026. Committee members will be selected to ensure representation from diverse regions, types of programs, roles, and areas of expertise.  Applicants will be notified of selections by mid-June.
