Back to School – Assessment Training for New Staff
Marty Olsen, Assessment TrainerIt’s back to school time! Do you have new staff that need to complete the required CASAS Implementation or TABE Implementation trainings? Check out the trainings being planned for this fall!
As a reminder, the following are the Minnesota Assessment Training Guidelines: “New instructors should not administer assessments until they have participated in assessment training, which is offered by ABE supplemental service providers or complete an online certification training provided by the test developers on their websites.” (MNABE Assessment Policy 2026-27, p. 14) The in-person implementation trainings being offered virtually by the assessment trainers this fall are below, along with the registration links.

September 18, 2026 – 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

To meet the requirements of CASAS implementation training, staff should complete the following modules:

*Module 1: Exploring CASAS
*Module 2: Launching CASAS eTests
*Module 3: Launching Paper Tests with Proctor Certification
*Module 4a: Interpreting Test Results
*Module 4b: Instructional Reports
TABE Training for New Staff – TABE Implementation Training
November 12, 2026 – 1:00-4:00 PM

To meet the requirements of TABE implementation training, staff should complete the following:
Certification Part 1: TABE 13&14 Overview
Certification Part 2: Common Security and Administration Guidelines for TABE 13&14
“All instructors administering tests must participate in ABE supplemental services-provided or test publisher recertification training for each test they administer at least once every five (5) years.” (MNABE Assessment Policy 2026-27, p. 14) If you are a seasoned assessment staff person, there will be an opportunity to participate in both a CASAS Recertification Training and a TABE Recertification Training during the Support Staff Conference on November 13.
