Community of Practice for Volunteers Leading Classes

Literacy Minnesota’s volunteer training department is engaging volunteers in a new, deeper, longitudinal training experience by holding a community of practice (CoP) for volunteers who are leading classes. Volunteers leading classes sometimes need a lot of support, and Literacy Minnesota wants to help provide that. Coordinators and teachers may not have the capacity to answer every question or provide all the development they think volunteer teachers need, and it’s our hope that this CoP can help.

The community of practice is a participant-directed experience in which volunteers pose questions and get answers from each other, from Tutor Training Coordinator Meghan Boyle, and the research she does on their behalf. It will consist of four virtual meetings of an hour and a half each on Friday afternoons in November and December. When finished, participants will receive a certificate and CEUs.
