Introducing ATLAS Operations and Content Integration Coordinator Erin Cary!

ATLAS is so pleased to welcome Erin Cary as its new Operations and Content Integration Coordinator! Erin brings extensive experience in Minnesota Adult Basic Education, along with deep knowledge of teaching, professional development, curriculum development, program administration, communications, and advocacy.

Erin is new to the ATLAS staff, but not at all new to MN Adult Education! She has worked in Minnesota ABE since 2009, and she holds an MA in ESL from Hamline University. Erin is grounded in both teacher education and the adult ed classroom, and she currently teaches beginning English language learners with Metro North ABE in Brooklyn Center while also serving as a graduate adjunct instructor in Hamline’s ABE licensure and certificate programs.

Erin’s work in adult education has taken many forms. She has served as an ABE teacher, program administrator, curriculum developer, professional development leader, and advocate. She is currently a project coordinator and co-developer of CILIA-T, an open-source curriculum integrating civics and U.S. history, academic English, and digital literacy for adult English learners. Erin is also a co-founder of #IamABE, a statewide teacher and learner advocacy movement focused on self-advocacy, equity, professional issues, and civic engagement.

At ATLAS, Erin will bring her wide-ranging experience to both the operations and professional development sides of our work. She will manage the MN ABEConnect newsletter and centralized Events calendar, support the ATLAS website, and coordinate planning and logistics for statewide, regional, and virtual events. She will also oversee event evaluation and CEU processes and provide technical and logistical support for ATLAS and partner-grantee events. In addition, Erin will continue contributing to professional development in areas including ESL and foundational literacy, administrator support, antiracism, and LGBTQ+ representation.
