New Marshall Adult Literacy Online English Language Tool: Feedback Requested!

We need your help to fine-tune a Minnesota home-grown English language online distance learning tool called Marshall Adult Literacy. Only with your help will Southwest Adult Basic Education (in collaboration with Flink Learning) be able to produce the best curriculum product possible.

This tool helps to develop six skill areas needed to become an effective reader:

• Phonemic Awareness
• Decoding
• Vocabulary
• Fluency
• Comprehension
• Writing

Marshall Adult Literacy was built from the popular “Reading Skills for Today’s Adults,” a free Marshall Adult Education fluency and comprehension website used by ABE teachers in Minnesota and around the country for over a decade. The new online tool is designed to:

• Empower adult learners to choose learning activities that interest and help them
• Motivate learners with graphical reports for the skills and words they master
• Cover a variety of culturally familiar and practical subjects in hundreds of readings
• Engage learners with over 1,500 graphically-appealing learning activities in English and Spanish
• Will be available online for ABE programs and companies and as a mobile app for individual learners

We can provide you with a FREE trial period this program year. All we ask in return is that you provide feedback twice during the year on the experience of using the product. You will provide your feedback in a Google form (link will be sent) so that you can give the feedback in the most efficient way possible. In addition, the feedback we receive will not only be used to improve this product, but also to seek approval for Marshall Adult Literacy to become a state-approved distance learning program.

As part of the demo period, you will be able to try out the individual program components as well as use the administrative portion of the product, which includes data record-keeping. The learning activities are designed to engage and help adult learners improve literacy levels in English, although there is a version for native Spanish speakers with help in Spanish.
