Summer Institute 2022: We Need YOU!

I hope you are as excited about the 2022 MN ABE Summer Institute (SI2022) as I am!  This year promises to be another 2 days packed with great information shared by your fellow teachers and state staff.  We will again be virtual, which means you can attend SI2022 from the comfort of your home and not worry about the travel.  We also plan for time to practice yoga and gather socially (even though we are at a distance).  Please mark your calendar for August 17 & 18 to participate in this event.

We need your help!

Now that we are excited about SI2022, please note that we are asking for your assistance to make this event as fantastic as it has been in the past and know it can be this year.  In 2020 we had to pivot to change SI to a virtual conference, and ATLAS stepped up and helped us create a conference that could not have happened without their assistance and guidance.  This year, we are not in a scramble and we are asking for more SI2022 attendees to help us put on the conference.

As always, the SI committee has issued a Call for Proposals for presenters, but we also need some help in running the Zoom meetings during the conference.  Again, a huge thank you goes out to all the ATLAS staff who stepped up to host many sessions in the last two virtual Summer Institutes.  While they will be back hosting several sessions this year, we need more practitioners to help with hosting and co-hosting duties.

Please fill out this Google form to indicate that you are willing to host or co-host a session or two. It’s not difficult – especially now that so many people are familiar with Zoom – and it’s a crucial support to our presenters!

After filling out the form, you will be contacted by Andy Albee from the SI Tech Committee.  If assigned a session, you will be asked to attend a 30-45 minute pre-conference run-through meeting to coordinate the Zoom tech support with the presenter(s).

All the tools you will need have already been created and used many times to great success, and we will share them with you beforehand. We even provide you with this Zoom Tech Troubleshooting Guide, which features tech support language you can simply copy and paste into the chat as needed.

Be assured that we will work with you to ensure you are comfortable with your (co)hosting duties and will schedule around any other obligations you may have, including presenting a session yourself.
