2024-2025 CCRS Implementation Cohort Applications Due June 3, 2024!
Kristine Kelly, Literacy Coordinator and CCRS LeadIs your program ready to dig into implementing the College & Career Readiness Standards for Adult Education? Would you benefit from a team of teachers and an administrator from your site working together throughout the year with workshops on English Language Arts (ELA) and Math, focused time to plan together, and technical assistance from CCRS specialists?
Consider applying for the 6th CCRS cohort beginning in fall 2024!
Note: Because many consortia have gone through the cohort, we are offering the cohort only every other year. After the 2024/2025 year, the next offering will be in 2026/2027.
What is the CCRS Cohort?
This CCRS Implementation Cohort is an intensive, long-term professional development activity from ATLAS. Participation in this training will prepare program teams to align curriculum and instruction to the CCR standards and develop a long-term standards implementation plan for their program.
But don’t take just my word for it! Check out what these teacher and administrator participants in the 2022-2023 Cohort had to say:
- “Coming in from a K-12 background, standards are nothing new. However, with the unique objectives of these standards, the CCRS work has been very helpful with allowing me to adjust to adult education! Overall I feel like I have made good progress not only as an adult educator, but as a teacher as a whole.”
- “It is a great way to spend time thoughtfully developing (or in our case, revising) your consortium’s CCRS Implementation Plan prior to writing the consortium grant narrative.”
- “I feel the best thing I have done for staff is take all my teachers through this process. They always tell me after that it was a lot of work but very beneficial and that they now have a better understanding of what we are trying to accomplish around the standards.”
- “Because we have much more of a “one-room schoolhouse” situation, tailoring to the needs of our students is important. However, that still means that we can use a standards-based approach to their learning. Knowing what they want, what resources there are available, what standards there are, and how they all interact help paint a more clear picture of what the students’ educational journey looks like.”
Cohort participation and prerequisites
Please note the following important details when considering whether to apply as a program:
- Prerequisite = CCRS Foundations training in ELA or math, depending on which content area you plan to participate in during the Cohort. The CCRS Foundations requirement can be met either through face-to-face or online training.
- Program application: ideally, a team of 3-5 individuals. Participating teams should consist of at least one administrator/coordinator from a program, one math teacher and one English language arts (ELA) teacher. An ideal team would be comprised of 1 administrator, 2 math teachers, and 2 ELA teachers. There is an opportunity to add more later, if space is available.
- We understand an “ideal” team is not always possible. Contact Kristine Kelly to discuss your program’s situation if needed: [email protected].
