Congrats to these ACES/TIF Foundation Course Completers!
The ACES/TIF Foundations course is designed to provide a thorough introduction on how to integrate academic, career, and employability skills (ACES) into your instructional context through the use of the Transitions Integration Framework (TIF), a document that identifies key skills our adult students need for successful transitions to college, career, employment, and community involvement.
The TIF includes six categories of skills:
- Critical Thinking
- Developing a Future Pathway
- Effective Communication
- Learning Strategies
- Navigating Systems
- Self-Management
The self-paced, independent study Canvas course takes approximately 6 hours to complete. Since July 2024, a total of 7 Minnesota adult educators have completed the ACES/TIF Foundations course in Canvas and earned 6 CEUs – so let’s give them a round of applause!

These adult educators work with students at different academic levels, in different classroom contexts, but are all better equipped to intentionally incorporate transitions skills after completing the course.

Another resource available to explore ACES/TIF integration is a 3-part webinar series facilitated by two ACES/TIF veterans, Stephanie Sommers and Heather Turngren. Watch one or all three recordings to get fresh ideas for instructional routines and learning activities that can be used to build transition skills at a variety of levels.
