CCRS Math Content Progressions

CCRS Math Lesson/Unit Planning Template

This standards-aligned lesson plan template is designed to be used to incorporate the 3 CCRS Math shifts into unit/lesson plans. This template also provides opportunities to reflect on all the major content standards used in Minnesota’s ABE system and other important components of adult numeracy instruction.

CCRS Math Standards

The College and Career Readiness Standards for Adult Education (CCRS) are a central component of the content standards being implemented in Minnesota ABE. The CCRS is divided into two sections: English Language Arts and Literacy (ELA) and Mathematics.

ELA CCRS-Aligned Qualitative Analysis Rubric

Use this tool to measure the complexity of any informational text (slightly, moderately, very, or exceedingly complex). This rubric is to be used in conjunction with the ELA CCRS-Aligned Unit & Lesson Planning Template also found in this section.

Use this tool to create units or lessons aligned to the Minnesota ABE State Standards (CCRS, ACES, Northstar).

CCRS and the Reading Foundational Skills

These resources describe Minnesota's combination of Common Core State Standards (CCSS) + CCRS Reading Foundational Skills 1-4, at Levels K-5. The result is a complete and clear sequence for teaching alphabetics and fluency to adult readers at Beginning and Intermediate levels.

CCRS ELA Standards

CCRS Individualized Instruction Planning Tool – ELA

The CCRS Individualized Instruction Planning Tool is intended to help teachers in one-room school house or other individualized instruction settings plan and document standards-aligned experiences for all students. This document could be used as a teacher planning tool or as a tracking document in a student’s folder.

Common Core (K-12) Math Standards

The College & Career Readiness Standards (CCRS) are based on the Common Core standards. Some teachers who teach low levels of numeracy have found looking at the kindergarten and first grade Common Core math standards helpful.

MTBOS or #MTBOS

You may notice online resources with MTBOS or #MTBOS. This stands for MathTwitterBlogosphere. Many diverse and wonderful materials, resources, ideas and suggestions are coming from folks who identify as part of or are connected to MTBOS. This search engine is one way to get started exploring resources connected by MTBOS.

National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM)

This resource is not free, but joining is highly recommended. This is the professional organization of math teachers nationwide. Their journal has lots of great instructional ideas. 

Math Is Fun

Looking for a definition of a term or a quick explanation of a concept? This is a great place to look things up, either for your own review or for an idea of where to start in your explanation. Just click on the Dictionary tab, or type a word in the search box.

Minnesota Council of Teachers of Mathematics (MCTM)

This resource is not free, but joining is a good way to connect with math teachers in Minnesota. This is the professional organization of Minnesota math teachers, and is the local chapter of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM). Teachers may want to consider MCTM's spring conference.

Finding True North – Role of the Navigator (training from World Education)

Navigators assist students as they explore college and career opportunities. This can be done formally or informally, by teachers, volunteers or other staff. Chances are, individuals doing this work never received any training on how to offer navigation services. Until now! This self-paced online course was created for college and career navigators by the National College Transition Network (NCTN) at World Education. It takes approximately 3 hours to complete.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility in Adult Foundational Education

This 2023 brief from the CREATE Adult Skills Network sheds light on diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility conditions, opportunities, and challenges as they manifest in adult basic education across the country.

Resources related to Community Interpreter have been collected by an ATLAS Credential Specialist experienced in this field. The PDF includes information on the credential including testing, ABE and non-ABE providers that offer training, curriculum links, potential participants, Minnesota wage and outlook information and additional certifications on this career pathway.
