Also Prepares Students for: Prepares them for a community-based certified nursing assistant(CNA) course by focusing on the knowledge and skills needed to successfully complete a certified program and pass the state certification exam.

Course Description: Course builds vocabulary and basic understanding of all aspects of the CNA role in a health-care setting. It also includes direct patient care skills such as assisting with activities of daily living (bathing, eating, elimination, etc.), vital signs, infection control, safety, etc. Each unit includes vocabulary and content activities, both in-class and options for online independent study. Each unit ends with a multiple-choice quiz on the vocabulary and content. At the end of the course, the students are given a comprehensive multiple-choice final exam.
Duration: 12 weeks, 4x/week, 3 hours/session = 144 instructional hours This course can easily be modified to a shortened version.
Curriculum Materials/Description:
- Included: Syllabus, lesson plans, teacher created materials, assessments (Google forms)
- Needed: book and equipment
- Equipment: Dependent on which skills the instructor selects to practice. Ideally you would want a hospital bed with linens and pillows, wheelchair, PPE(gloves, gowns, masks), hand sanitizer, alcohol pads, transfer belts, bedpans, urinary catheter, graduates, supplies for bathing and oral care, utensils for feeding).
