Target Student Population: High Intermediate ESL (NRS ESL Level 5 – CASAS Life & Work Reading 211 – 220), students born outside of U.S., have worked in the U.S. for at least 6 months or have advanced foreign degrees, and have high intermediate or above English reading, writing, speaking and listening skills

Course Description: This 12-week course helps New Americans who have work experience in the U.S. gain the skills they need to move into leadership roles. Through class discussion and collaborative learning, students will learn leadership styles, effective feedback, techniques for training employees, networking skills, how to write a resume and computer skills.
Duration: 12 weeks, 3 days/week, 3 hours/session = 108 total instructional hours
Curriculum Materials: Google Drive folders organized by topics.
Curriculum Pluses: Allows students to apply their knowledge of the workplace and their technical skills as well as practice and improve their English language reading, writing, speaking and listening. The curriculum utilizes North Star Digital Literacy as well as practical workplace scenarios to ensure students have the technological skills necessary to succeed in the workplace.
Curriculum Drawbacks: This course does not lead to certification.
