Prepares Students for: TEAS VI Tests (TEAS: Test of Essential Academic Skills, a basic aptitude test used with nursing school applicants)
Target Student Population: No minimum TABE Reading or Math scores required for participation in prep class; however TABE 9.0 in Reading and Math are recommended in order to pass the TEAS exam.

Course Description: A rigorous course that covers English/language, reading, math and science knowledge required for the TEAS VI Test. Students also gain knowledge of the content and structure of the tests, develop critical thinking and reduce test-taking anxiety. Course content is based on topics in the TEAS Study Manual, Version VI, available in class and for purchase. Requires extensive study outside of class.
Duration: 16 three-hour classes = 48 hours of instruction
Curriculum Description: Includes course overview chart of daily content; student syllabus with additional online study resources and tips for test preparation; study manual information; and PowerPoint presentations for the Reading, English/Language and Math portions that correspond with the TEAS Study Manual. The Study Manual is the main source for the course and provides practice items for learners. Science portion includes worksheets, quizzes and answer keys for teaching all science content.
Curriculum Pluses: Chart of daily content; extensive Science teaching materials. Some practice items in PowerPoints. Based on the new TEAS Version VI.
Curriculum Drawbacks: Lacks ABE teaching materials for Reading, English/Language and Math; scaffolding to guide mastery of content is not apparent.
